The Hunting Valley Service Department consists of four employees; Supervisor (1), Chief Mechanic (1), Labor/Drivers (2) and seasonal snowplowing (2). The facility was renovated in 1995, and today it is completely OSHA and EPA compliant. The Hunting Valley Service Department works hard at being environmentally conscious; oil interceptors have been installed from all its drains, and a retention basin was built in 1998 for the purpose of collecting all run-off water, holding it and slowly releasing it into the marshland area that ultimately goes into the Chagrin River.
The Service Department is responsible for approximately 19 miles of public roads and does additional snow plowing, by contract, of 6-1/2 miles of private roads. The Village Hall roadside mowing and care for the Village cemetery and conservation land is also the responsibility of the Service Department. The Service Department maintains all Village owned vehicles and equipment. The placement of all traffic signs, road striping and tree maintenance is also the responsibility of the Service Department.
